Film buffs know that the crucial scenes in the film “Indra”, including the climax, were picturised in Kuppam, but not many are aware that Mr Chiranjeevi opened up, for the first time on his entry into politics, in this town, during an interview while shooting for the film in 2001.

He recalled that he had said that time would decide his future course of action and that no force could stop his entry into politics if it was destined. During his road show on Thursday, Mr Chiranjeevi reminisced the day when he kissed the soil on his return to Rayalaseema in the movie and said it was an “unforgettable moment” for him.

As Kuppam has a sizeable chunk of Tamil and Kannada-speaking population, given its proximity to the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka border, Mr.Chiranjeevi greeted the public with “Vanakkam” in Tamil and “Namaskaragalu” in Kannada.
